Space Systems

Our Bi-stable Reeled Composites provide unique and beneficial solutions for design engineers involved in the space sector.

The highly compact and lightweight nature of our products allows launch payloads to be optimised, but the fact that our booms have no moving parts means that our solutions have less potential failure modes when compared to traditional deployment arm solutions.

The low internal energy of our composites brings benefits in terms of controlled deployment and recovery, reducing the potential for creating oscillations in the vehicle platform.

Further, the embedding of conductors or micropipes into the composite allows elegant umbilical management solutions where our booms are used for deploying sensors or motors.

With a successful space heritage already in place for our technology, we work with a wide range of space hardware organisations via our exclusive partner Frond Space Systems in New Zealand.

Key Features

Highly Compact

Bi Stable Reeled Composites allows more compact mechanisms which allows more payload to be launched

Low Energy Deployment

Low composite energy means more controlled deployments and recoveries, and less chance of craft oscillations being created

No Moving Parts

BRC booms have no moving parts, which means there is less to go wrong.

Light but strong

Lighter than comparable mechanisms, payloads can be maximised.

Work With Our Technology

If you believe you could benefit from the use of Bi-stable Reeled Composites in a space application, then we would like to set up an initial “no obligation” conversation with either ourselves or direct with Frond Space Systems.
